CLASS REPRESENTATIVES BOARD

Expand participation of lower form members

More than 70 students serve in one of the three departments (Subscription, Administration and Internal) of the Class Representatives Board each year.  However, F.5 committee members are heavily relied upon while lower form members are only responsible for execution.  They do not have the chance to participate in policy tasks such as event planning and material ordering.

This year, we plan to increase the involvement of members by assigning committee members and F.4 working members to work in one of the three departments, working as a team under the respective department head.  Besides, F.2 to F.4 members will have the opportunity to plan and run a booth in the Christmas Ball, with the help and guidance from the three vice chairmen.  We believe that experiences in a wider scope of work is fundamental in nurturing future leaders.  On the other hand, lower form members can bring in different perspectives thereby providing innovation and new insight to the board.  This will in turn improve efficiency and create versatility in daily operation.

On duty members reduction & scrupulous enforcement of marking system

Two to three members are required to be on duty to carry out newspaper distribution or borrowing service.  Yet, in some off-peak period, e.g. after school, one person is more than enough.  CRB working members who are also class representatives have to attend two duty sessions.  A member is less motivated to fulfill his duty if the second session is perceived as unwarranted.  Hence we propose to relieve the extra duty sessions of some class representatives.  Members should sign in on the attendance booklet and fill in the duty record.  Members from our internal department will supervise the attendance and stand in for an absent member.   At the same time the point system will be tightened, members who fail to attend duty twice in a row will receive double point deduction.  This ensures our quality of service is unaffected despite the reduced number of on duty members.

New equipment and record system for borrowing service

The borrowing service has been implemented by CRB for many years. However, the usage has been declining due to inadequate promotion and shortage of equipment.  The board will begin to promote our borrowing service through social media.  New sets of sports equipment such as basketball will be purchased for the borrowing service during recess and lunch time.  Special products such as umbrella and hand warmer will be added to the borrowing list to cater to students’ needs.  The lack of a methodical record and monitoring system results in endless hassle when seeking the return of borrowed items.  To tackle the problem, we will collect Student ID card as a collateral and keep detailed record of each borrowing.  Compensation for damages will be clearly stated as well.

CRB Orientation Day

Accompanying the proposed reformation of the board, we shall make sure that new members understand their role and have a sense of belonging to the board.  To this end a CRB orientation day will be held after the SA inauguration. The structure of the board, work details and internal point system will be carefully explained to all members.  Members will be guided into their respective departmental teams before engaging in games and tackling work samples of the department (e.g. ball promotion video plot writing for the Administration Department).  Through this orientation we hope members will develop working relationship faster which will in turn increase the efficiency of the board.

Prominent theme and opinion collection for the Annual Christmas Ball

The Annual Christmas Ball has been the core event of the CRB every year.  This year, we plan to hold a ball with a prominent theme for which theme products and related activities will be organised.  In addition, in order to cater to every participant’s need and to give them an enjoyable time during the ball, we plan to collect opinions and preferences.  A Google Form will be put online where students can send in their suggestions and suitable ideas will be adopted.
